Toronto Data Workshop: Sophie Bennett on the UK A-levels algorithms controversy

The Schwartz Reisman Institute co-hosts a special meeting of the Toronto Data Workshop, focused on the UK A-levels algorithms controversy in which the 2020 exams were cancelled and a standardization algorithm was used to adjust proposed grades.

SRI Director Gillian Hadfield will introduce speaker Sophie Bennett, data scientist, neuroscientist, and psychologist who holds a BA from the University of Oxford, and an MSc and PhD from King’s College London. Bennett wrote a blog post, “On A Levels, Ofqual and Algorithms,” about the debacle.

This event is free and open to the public. Guests will be emailed a Zoom link shortly before the start of the event.
