Rini teaches and writes on a number of topics at the intersection of normative theory and social science, with a focus on the relevance of cognitive science to moral theory. Currently, she is working on new projects related to the ethics of microaggression, the relationship between moral disagreement and moral agency, and the role of partisanship in political epistemology.

Talk title:

“Defining the ideologies of the digital century”

Abstract:

In the twentieth century, global politics were dominated by ideological responses to mass industrialization. Since the 1990s, it has been fashionable to talk about the ‘end of history’ and the triumph of liberalism. But we have missed the ways that technology continues to change political thinking, particularly through instant global communication and the predictive power of mass data. This talk will examine the continuing role of ideology in public life and begin to sketch the emerging ideologies whose competition will dominate the twenty-first century.
